Accenture Song acquires Romp and Rabbit's Tale for $undisclosed Southeast Asia creative consolidation

Two deals in Indonesia and Thailand signal holding-company retreat from mid-market creative; agencies selling into consulting margins.

Accenture Song closed the acquisition of Bangkok-based Rabbit's Tale and announced a second deal for Romp, an Indonesia-focused brand and experience agency, marking its first two creative acquisitions in Southeast Asia within weeks. Financial terms were not disclosed for either transaction. The Thailand deal is final; the Romp acquisition remains subject to regulatory clearance.

Rabbit's Tale brings digital experience and campaign design capabilities across Thai consumer brands. Romp operates primarily in Jakarta, serving Indonesian corporates and regional consumer goods companies. Both agencies employ between 30 and 80 full-time staff, according to local market filings. Accenture Song—the $15 billion revenue marketing arm of Accenture—has now completed 23 creative and experience-design acquisitions since its 2021 formation from the merger of Accenture Interactive and Droga5. The Southeast Asia deals follow the 2024 retirement of the Unlimited brand in London, another bolt-on creative shop absorbed into the Song architecture after its acquisition.

The pattern matters because it confirms what single-family offices backing creative agencies have suspected for eighteen months: independent shops in growth markets are selling into consulting balance sheets at valuations traditional holding companies cannot match. Accenture's model allows it to pay for creative talent with professional-services multiples—typically 12x to 16x EBITDA—while WPP and Publicis are constrained to 8x to 10x by investor expectations and legacy cost structures. The firm does not break out Song margins, but Accenture's overall consulting margin ran at 15.2% in fiscal 2024. Creative agencies rarely exceed 12% under holding-company ownership. The arbitrage is durable.

For luxury and premium brands operating across Southeast Asia, the consolidation creates a narrower set of credible regional partners. Romp and Rabbit's Tale were known for localized craft; Accenture Song will integrate them into a global delivery model that prioritizes systems integration and customer-data platforms over editorial discretion. Brands that relied on these shops for culturally specific creative will now negotiate with a $64 billion consulting firm. The work may improve in technical execution. It will not improve in tonal risk-taking. That trade-off is acceptable to procurement departments and unacceptable to brand officers, which is why the next twelve months will determine whether Accenture Song can retain the acquired talent or whether key creatives depart to form new independents.

Watch for two follow-on moves. First, whether Accenture announces a Singapore or Malaysia acquisition within six months, completing a five-market Southeast Asia footprint. Second, whether WPP or Publicis respond with their own Indonesia plays or cede the market to consulting firms. The silence so far suggests the latter. The UK retirement of Unlimited offers a template: Accenture absorbs the brand equity, keeps the client relationships, and discards the name within 18 months. Romp and Rabbit's Tale will likely follow the same arc.

The Indonesia deal is expected to close in Q2 2025. Accenture has not disclosed whether it will retain the Romp or Rabbit's Tale brands or fold them into Song immediately.

The takeaway
Accenture paying consulting multiples for creative agencies traditional holding companies cannot match; talent retention will determine whether model works.

Your next customer won't visit your website. Their AI will.
AI assistants have quietly taken over the first step of buying — they answer from catalogs they can read and shortlist whoever can actually ship. Two questions now decide whether you exist to that buyer: can a machine read your catalog, and can you fulfill the order. Most brands fail one or both and never find out why the orders went elsewhere. The winners of this shift aren't the loudest. They're the most readable. Build for the machine that's about to do the shopping.

Built by the craft floor — apparel, media, packaging, and secure print.
This trade runs on hands, not desks. Imprint manufacturing & Komori Press · Canon high-speed secure-media operations is a craft floor — genuine Six Sigma discipline applied to ink, thread, foil, and registration, where a hundredth of an inch is the difference between a brand that reads serious and one that reads cheap. POPS4 is built by exactly those operators: independent, boots-on-the-ground engineers who carry their own book, read a client in microseconds, and put their name on every run. Beyond our own Virginia Beach floor, we work with a vetted network of craft manufacturers across the US — each meeting the highest excellence in QC standards in the industry, each a specialist in its own discipline — so apparel, hard-goods imprinting, media manufacturing, packaging, and secure printing all go to the bench built for them, coordinated from one accountable hub. Short-run from twenty-five units, volume to five hundred thousand. Two hundred authorized national brands, seventy thousand SKUs with virtual proofing on every one. Art archived for instant reorders.
